Editorial Standards
How we create content, verify information, and maintain accuracy.
How we create content
Every article on Real Thailand Guide is based on firsthand experience living in Thailand. We do not publish content about places we have not visited or processes we have not personally gone through. If an article covers a visa application, we have completed that application ourselves. If it covers a neighborhood, we have spent time there in person.
This site is not a content farm. There is no team of freelancers rewriting government websites. Every guide reflects real, lived experience from someone who actually calls Thailand home.
How we verify information
Visa requirements are checked against the Thai Immigration Bureau and Royal Thai Embassy websites before publication. Tax information is verified against IRS publications and relevant tax treaties. Cost data comes from our own spending and is cross-referenced with current market rates.
All prices and fees include the date they were last verified. When we cite a specific cost, that number comes from what we actually paid or confirmed recently, not from a three-year-old blog post.
How we handle updates
Articles are reviewed regularly and updated when information changes. Every article displays a "Last Updated" date so you always know how current the information is.
If a visa rule changes or a price shifts significantly, we update the article within a week. Thailand's visa landscape changes frequently, and we treat outdated information as a bug that needs fixing, not something to ignore.
Our affiliate policy
Some articles contain affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you purchase a product or service through one of our links. Here is how we handle that:
- We only recommend products and services we personally use.
- Affiliate relationships never influence our rankings or recommendations.
- We always include non-affiliate alternatives when they exist.
- All affiliate links are clearly disclosed within the article.
We would rather lose a commission than lose your trust. If a free option is better than a paid one, we will tell you that.
Corrections
If you find an error in any article, please email hello@realthailandguide.com. We take accuracy seriously and will correct verified errors promptly. Getting things right matters more than being right the first time.
Independence
No business, tourism board, or government pays for coverage on this site. All opinions are our own. We do not accept sponsored posts, paid reviews, or advertorial content disguised as editorial. If we recommend something, it is because we genuinely think it is good.
