๐Ÿ›’ Shopping & Delivery

Buying things in Thailand: Lazada, Shopee, groceries, and what replaced Amazon.

The first thing most people want to know is whether Amazon works here. It does not, not in any useful sense. There is no Thai Amazon marketplace and no Prime. AmazonGlobal will ship some things, but between shipping cost, delivery time and import fees it is rarely the right answer.

What you actually use

Lazada and Shopee cover almost everything. Shopee tends to be faster with better promotions; Lazada has the more consistently English interface and is often cheaper on a given item. For anything expensive, check both, because the gap between them on the same product can be large enough to be worth ten minutes.

The third one nobody mentions is TikTok Shop, which has grown to roughly a third of the Thai market and by most reporting has passed Lazada into second place. Livestream selling is a far bigger deal here than in the US or Europe.

Most lists you will find are out of date

Nearly every "top Thai shopping sites" article still recommends JD Central, which stopped taking orders in March 2023 and whose domain no longer resolves. It is a reliable signal that nobody checked before publishing. The guides here were checked platform by platform in August 2026.

The parts that catch foreigners out

You need a Thai phone number for account verification and order OTPs, which a data-only travel eSIM will not receive. Product listings and reviews stay in Thai even when the interface is English, so camera translation earns its place. And buying inside the official brand storefronts, LazMall and Shopee Mall, matters more for authenticity than which platform you picked.
